Born in Warwickshire, Jemma Bausor was awarded a full scholarship to Wells Cathedral School. Her undergraduate studies took place at the Royal College of Music, where she studied under Christopher Cowie and Gareth Hulse. Whilst there, she won the Peter Pears Duo Prize and took part in ‘Side-by-Side’ schemes with the London Symphony Orchestra and Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Jemma went on to study for a Postgraduate Performance Diploma at the Royal Academy of Music where she was awarded the Robert Rendell Scholarship; her teachers included Douglas Boyd and Tess Miller. Having finished her Postgraduate studies, she was awarded a full scholarship to study under Hansjörg Schellenberger at the Encuentro Musica y Academia in Santander, Spain, where she played alongside members of the Berlin Philharmonic. Jemma is a freelance player with orchestras throughout the country. She was oboist with the West End musical Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and has recorded solo works for Boosey & Hawkes and on the composer Andrew Campling’s Celtic Rhapsody CD. Jemma regularly performs as a soloist and recently performed the Marcello Oboe Concerto in St Paul’s Church, Covent Garden. Her solo playing has taken her as far as France, Italy and Thailand.
